Back on the Diet! (The real one)

So today is day one of my diet! I am pretty excited because I have had a good day despite the peanut butter incident about 4:00pm. I declare that from now til Christmas I am officially on program and then I am going to stuff my face full of crap over the holidays and then jump back on again January 2, 2009.

So far I have lost almost 60 lbs since January 2, 2008 and I have never felt better! I have been on the Herbal Magic program, but I really can't afford it anymore so once all my excess supplies are (herbs) are gone, I am just following the diet plan as I have learned in the last year.

My goal is another 40 lbs and then I am on maintenance for life. I vow never to put that weight back on. It is incredibly hard getting it off and I will not want to do it all over again.

So for all you dieters out there, I raise my celery to you and wish you luck and success!

Now off to drink more water!

Whey! My accidental diet

So I am allergic to milk. Specifically, whey. You know like little miss muffet....eating her curds and "whey". That kind of whey. Thankfully, whey isn't in all dairy products, and even more thankfully, it is not in hard cheese. So pizza is not forbidden!!

I have had 2 allergic reactions in the last 2 weeks. My fault. I should know better. But I always seem to test the limits, sometimes in serious denial that I am in fact allergic. When will I learn because the result is torture.

I won't go into details, let's just say that I have spent an awful lot of time SITTING in the bathroom. Hours to be more precise.

It is so hard not being able to drink milk, eat ice cream or even yogurt. I LOVE yogurt, but straight up, those 3 things will almost put me in the hospital. A small amount mixed in with something is pushing it, but I can often get away with it.

My first reaction...cereal. Fibre cereal to be exact. Can you imagine the double whammy that gave me?

My second reaction...mashed potatoes.

Now I used to be able to get away with both, but apparently not anymore.

The good news? There is good news to this...I lost about 7lbs in those many hours sitting in the bathroom.

A haircut well over due

I haven't had a cut and color since July 2008. I can hardly believe it. I guess I know where my priorities have been lately.

Today I finally made the call for an appointment. Here is the troubling part. My hairdresser, "Fadi", who has looked after my hair for the last decade has decided to move back to his home country. This is part of the reason for my delay in getting my hair taken care of. I have never let anyone else touch my hair in 10 years, and though I am sure there are many capable hairdressers out there, I compare it to switching doctors. Not only does he know my hair and my preferences for cut and color, but he knows ME! He knows my life, I know his. We can have a conversation that doesn't require background information. How could he do this to me!!

Having been a hairdresser myself for a brief time in my life, I know how difficult this job is, and I give Kudo's to all those hairdressers out there that put up with clients like myself. Now as I go to begin a new relationship with the new hairdresser that he referred me to, I find myself becoming very stressed and nervous. It's like getting a physical exam from your new doctor....just on the head :)

Stay tuned for the results of my could be interesting considering my roots are grown out about 4 inches. Ugh.

My Shirt Company!

My Sweet Teez Shirt Co.

In September 2008 I launched my new small business venture. Designing and manufacturing Advocacy Apparel. Silk screening has become my second job! Who knew it would be so much work to get a small business started but I can hopefully say that the hardest part is behind us and that it will be smooth sailing from here on in.

Why T-shirts? It is all about the ability to have the freedom to say, advocate, support and raise awareness for anything one is interested in. My personal passion is Down syndrome and I LOVE that I now have the ability to create and design my own shirts! Currently I have pre-made designs available for purchase but soon I will be open to custom designs. What better way to support your cause of choice!

Thanks to all the people that have supported me along the way in getting this business started and I hope in 3 - 5 years I will be able to turn a profit! LOL! For now, it is all about learning and building the baby steps :)

Please visit my website at and have a look at my current designs. I have more to come soon as well!

The Tees

My Two Tee's. Tristyn and Trenton.
I don't know who adores the other more....

Tristyn is in Grade 7 and is my little social butterfly. School suddenly became interesting and I am not completely sure why. I suspect it's the boys!

Trenton, my chromosomally enhanced little supa star...he is all boy and he keeps us laughing and cheering all day long. I have never seen a little boy so curious and determined in my life.

What incredible smiles!
